Melbourne Beach, Florida is where we (RA & M.E.) grew up, where we learned to swim, ride bikes, and to identify a shadow in the water before yelling "shark!" Our favorite beach here is Coconut Point Park. When it comes to food, Melbourne Beach has a wonderful variety that includes but isn't limited to Japanese, Chinese & other Asian cuisine, Indian cuisine, Cuban cuisine, Italian cuisine (both traditional and americanized), and of course, good ol' American delights too. Cool Facts: Natives of the area are believed to have been the Ais. First European feet are said to have stepped foot on Florida sand in the very early 1500s (before the land was even called "Florida.") Melbourne Beach was first Established in 1883 by a retired Union soldier. The Melbourne Causeway Bridge was built in 1921, finally connecting the beach land with the main land.
